My MAC ME OVER Experience 2011

This past Friday was my MAC ME OVER (MMO) appointment. I went with a friend from work and we had an amazing time. I had never been to the MAC counter to try any of the makeup before. I've only been to the counter to purchase what I wanted, and be done with it. This time was a bit different and it was pretty awesome! Before I had went, I took a look at the full collection to get an idea of what I wanted to buy beforehand.

When we got there, 3 or 4 mac artists greeted us with smiles which was a bit surprising. My appt was at 11 and my friends was at 1130. We both ended up being side by side getting our makeup done at the same time. Londen, my artist asked which part of the collection piqued my interest and I mentioned the single eyeshadows, carbonized and creamy bisque. She brought those two colors out along with a few other products I'll mention in a bit.

Since I had never been to one of these events before she explained to me how it was going to work. She would do one step of the makeup and I would mimic it on the other eye, trying out the product while learning how to apply my own makeup. Brilliant and freee. She used one of the shadesticks (Street Cool). It's a plummy dark brown taupe. Pretty color but later in the day creased :[ It wasn't too creamy either so it was a bit rougher on the skin. After the shade stick she applied carbonized with a stiff shader brush, not sure the number but, meh. I didn't really care for that brush anyhoo. After she applied carbonized with a 217 blending brush (can't wait to get me a couple of those bad boys ;]!), we blended out the color to make it a more daytime wearable smokey eye. Carbonized is a Veluxe Pearl, so it went on smooth and in my opinion blends super easily. To highlight the brow bone we used Creamy bisque. It was quite sheer, and I wasn't too happy with it, honestly. Not worth the $15 (btw, MAC raised products for half of their products, including their eyeshadows).

Anyways amongst the new products from the MMO collection, I tried Teddy, a eye liner kohl, Haute and Naughty mascara, and Good Times LipGlass. I liked the color of Teddy (brown metallic) but wasn't too impressed with the mascara or the Lipglass. The mascara wasn't too amazing especially for the price, and the lipglass though creamy, I just didn't like how it looks on my own lips.

Overall I was very pleased with my experience with the MAC ME OVER event. My artist was very nice, not too pushy and was willing to show me anything I wanted. She knew her shit and was surprised as to how much I knew ;] Everyone should be well informed about the products before you drop a dime!

I should mention I did not pick up any of the collection. Im thinking I might pick up carbonized this weekend but I did end up getting matched for a loose powder (NC5) and got a better idea of what foundation I will get next time I'm there (Studio Fix Fluid Foundation & my 187 stippling brush! <3).

Did anyone else get a chance to try out the collection? Let me know in a comment :]
Enjoy your week beauties!

Happy MACing.
