A couple of weeks ago I ran out of my scrub that I normally use. It's one of the Biore facial scrubs, one of which I can't remember the exact name. I wanna say it was the warming one. Well, anyways, I've tried St. Ives before and wasn't put off by the brand, so I decided to go with the Apricot Cleanser...plus it was on sale at the time for under $3!
Now, before I go into the review, you must understand how my face is. I was (luckily) blessed with generally clear skin and from time to time I'll get several blemishes. If I don't clean my face often, I will start getting tons of black heads, blemishes and ca ca-ness. My skin is unevenly toned with blots of awkward redness. I also, mostly in the winter get horribly dry skin around my nose and cheek area. My skin isn't sensitive, so I am free to use almost any product.
This cleanser is in my opinion kind of like a two in one product. It has little pieces in it, which help exfoliate your face while still cleansing it. The little scrubby pieces aren't too harsh but still do the job. This scrub is not tested on animals and does NOT contain animal ingredients which makes St. Ives as a brand an A+ in my book to begin with!
The product smells okay and the packaging is simple yet appealing. For the money you pay for it, I think it does the job and then some. It left my face feeling clean but not too tight or dry. The Apricot Scrub they have made my face feel super tight and dry after I used it and I'm not a big fan of that feeling. It did though, get rid of my dry skin.
How I cleanse:
(Done in the shower)
After I shampoo and condition and my pores have been opened from all the hot steam coming from my shower, I will squeeze a quarter sized amount of the cleanser onto my fingertips and I massage into my face.
Since the product still has little scrubby pieces in it like its counterpart (St. Ives Apricot Scrub), they're not as harsh as the scrubby pieces in that apricot scrub.
Once I've hit my dry problem areas, I rinse off with warm water. Afterwards, I will apply a facial lotion to my face, since after showers are the best time to moisturize!
The St. Ives Naturally Clean Apricot Cleanser can be purchased at your local drug store nationwide in the US and has a price tag of around $3-4 USD.
